Refugees of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti are still struggling. Marie’s family of five has been facing an uphill battle, but with the help of Family Aid Boston and New Life they now have a furnished home. Three generations of her family chose items including a dining room table and chairs to celebrate around and measuring cups, pots, pans and all the kitchen accessories needed to make family meals.
Serving our veterans is a special privilege at New Life. Eddie could not have been more appreciative for our help. He and his twin sons found themselves homeless after a prolonged hospitalization. Their Mom was no longer in the picture which made it even harder. In his own words: “Today, we are building our new life and are fully furnished, down to the smallest detail.”
It is not only young people who need a fresh start but people like Paul who at 90 years old has just obtained an affordable apartment. Living on Social Security and relying on food stamps and subsidies, he struggles to make ends meet. New Life was able to provide him with everything he needed for his home. He was very excited about having a pot to turn a 5lb chicken and veggies into chicken soup!
