New Life Home Refurnishing Purchases Twelve Mattress Sets Thanks to Donations from Public WALPOLE, Mass – March 15, 2014: New Life Home Refurnishing, a charitable organization that accepts tax-deductible donations of furniture and household items and makes them available free-of-charge to those in need, was in dire need of mattresses, so a “Mattress Fund Drive” was organized to purchase mattresses to supplement those which were donated. “We couldn’t have been more pleased,” said Ron Yates, co-founder of New Life Home Refurnishing. “We put out a request to the public, and the public responded. We received $3,400 towards our mattress fund drive in just a few weeks. The outpouring of support was just amazing!” By happy coincidence, on Saturday, March 15 the Medfield High School Captain’s Council, was running an athletics fundraiser called March Mattress. Together with Custom Fundraising Solutions (CFS), a company that offers fundraisers to sports teams, the Captain’s Council transformed the MHS gym into a mattress showroom. “When New Life heard about the prices available at the MHS fundraiser, we felt very fortunate that we were able to participate,” said Yates. “With the money that was donated, we were able to purchase 12 mattress sets -- five twins, four doubles and three queens!” Furthermore, while Yates and others were at the sale, another shopper heard about the non-profit organization, and on the spot, purchased another mattress set. In addition, CFS generously donated another two sets. New Life now has fifteen new mattress sets! “One of the biggest challenges facing New Life is obtaining donations of mattresses of all sizes that are in very good condition,” said Yates. “The donations we received and the mattresses we purchased will help us over the course of the next few months.” Volunteers from the Captain’s Council will assist in receiving and unloading the mattress sets into the New Life warehouse in Walpole in early April. The New Life warehouse is located at 102 Elm Street (Route 27) in Walpole. It is open from 9-11 AM on Saturdays for drop offs. Those interested in donating, scheduling a pick up or volunteering, are encouraged to reference the NewLife web site, www.newlifehr.org. The mission of NewLife Home Refurnishing is to help individuals and families in transition from the Metro-West and Greater Boston area. The New Life team believes that the opportunity to “shop” from the warehouse of gently used furnishings and household items offers dignity and affirmation to those who have been marginalized. # # #
